Powered rails are one of the many types of transportation you can create in the game Minecraft. Six powered rails will be produced at once during the crafting process.
* If applicable, the version to which it was added or removed NOTE: Bedrock Edition has replaced Pocket Edition (PE), Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Windows 10 Edition. We will continue to show them individually for version history.
To make Powered rails, open the crafting area made up of the 3×3 grid. Fill the entirety of the 1st and 3rd columns with 6 Gold Ingots, then place a wooden stick in the center of the crafting grid and 1 Redstone directly underneath it. Now simply click the rails and drag it into your inventory.

UsageSee also:
Both a rail and a redstone component can be created from a powered rail.
Use a powered rail item to point at a surface facing the area the powered rail should occupy in order to place it. A powered rail can be placed on:
While it is impossible to attach a powered rail to the side or bottom of any block, doing so may result in the powered rail attaching to the top of a block beneath the destination space. For instance, when trying to attach a powered rail to the side of a fence that is on the ground, the powered rail may end up being attached to the top of the ground next to the fence instead.
A powered rail is placed with the ability to line up with any other powered rails, activator rails, detector rails, and rails that are one block higher. A powered rail aligns in the east-west direction if there are two adjacent rails on non-opposite sides or three or more adjacent rails. A powered rail aligns itself in the north-south direction if there are no other adjacent rails; however, if a rail is later installed to the east or west, the powered rail changes its orientation to face east-west, even if it is already connected to a rail to the north or south. A powered rail “prefers,” in the following order: west, east, south, and north, to slant upward toward a rail that it would line up with if it were one block up. Rails can be added and removed to create different configurations. Unlike their unpowered counterparts, powered rails are always straight, just like detector and activator rails.
Even with commands, it cannot be made to hang in midair, which is not an accident. [1].
RailMain article:
Minecarts can travel along powered rails and other rails. Regardless of whether a powered rail is active or not, a minecart entering a powered rails space from either end of the rail continues to move in the direction the rail is facing. However, the speed of the minecart may change (see below). Depending on how the powered rails are oriented, a minecart entering a powered rails space from the side turns either east or south, or downward if the powered rails are slanted.
Redstone componentSee also:
Powered rails can be used to modify the speed at which minecarts cross them.

FAQ
How far apart do powered rails need to be?
One popular and many believe the most effective way to distribute powered rails is to do so every 38 blocks on level ground.
How do you power a minecart in Minecraft?
Right-clicking the furnace while holding coal or charcoal will cause the train to move in that direction. Make sure to activate the train while standing behind it to ensure that it is moving in the intended direction. Minecart trains can operate on either northerly or southerly oriented rails.
How many rails do I need for a powered rail?
Any minecart ascending a slope needs three powered rails in a row to reach its top speed and two powered rails every two blocks to maintain it. When carrying a chest or hopper, a minecart needs three consecutive powered rails to reach top speed and eight blocks between powered rails to maintain that speed.
