What are the minimum system requirements that are recommended for the Minecraft: Education Edition app?
All Chromebooks that support Android apps are compatible with the Minecraft: Education Edition app. We recommend:
- At least 4 GB of RAM
- Hard drive: Each user needs at least 500 MB (1 GB is recommended) of free space.
- Chrome version 83 or later
Because Minecraft: Education Edition consumes a lot of CPU resources, we advise against using it with other open applications.
Devices without an integrated fan reach their thermal threshold more quickly. Excessive heat can affect your device’s CPU frequency and performance. Use a fanless device on a solid surface only, and think about using a fan or ventilated stand. View ChromeOS device details has instructions on how to access your Admin console and view CPU temperature information.
Which devices are recommended for the Minecraft: Education Edition app?
The Minecraft: Education Edition app runs on all Chromebooks that support Android apps. For a full list of devices, see ChromeOS Systems Supporting Android Apps.
Note: You might experience sluggishness or screen hiccups with devices that aren’t listed. Close other applications so that Minecraft: Education Edition can take up more of the device’s resources.
