No, we’re not referring to a dirt door that needs to be destroyed and then rebuilt each time you want to access your secret room. Over the years that Minecraft has been available, players have developed a variety of more advanced techniques for creating secret entrances.
This tutorial will show you how to construct a hidden door out of pressure plates, sticky pistons, item frames, and buttons. We’ll also discuss less complicated techniques that don’t use Redstone or Sticky Pistons. Learn how to stop others in Minecraft from stealing your loot by reading on.

Instead of bragging, let’s concentrate on learning how to construct a hidden piston door.
This is where securing your home gets a little trickier as you need to use sticky pistons. But don’t worry! I’ve outlined exactly how to make a hidden piston door in the s below (but here’s a video tutorial if you prefer).
[1/5] Lay out ten piston blocks exactly like this. Create two 2×2 stacks facing each other first. Next, arrange a stack of 1x2s next to those to create an L shape. You need two blocks of space between them. The green side is where each piston will extend, so keep that in mind.
[2/5] Arrange a 1×2 building block stack as displayed in this Ive used gold blocks to make it easier to demonstrate. However, if you use the same construction materials as the wall that surrounds your doorway, it will be concealed.
[3/5] Construct a front wall, ceiling, and a 2×2 hole in the middle, enclosing the piston blocks. Once you’re done, you can use this hole as a doorway that you can open and close.
[4/5] After that, position four redstone repeaters in the locations shown in this image atop your archway. It is crucial that they face the same directions as shown in the illustration. Join them up with redstone dust and add levers.
Now that your doorway has levers on either side, you can open and close it. If the wall and piston door are constructed from the same materials, it will be difficult to see the doorway when it is closed.
You may have observed a significant flaw in the above-made hidden piston door. Yep, the lever gives the whole thing away. You might try concealing it behind something, as we did with the button. But we need to use some sophisticated Redstone circuits to truly hide the piston door better.
Rogue Fox’s instructions for creating an invisible button for a hidden piston door are a good place to start. The necessary redstone circuit is fairly straightforward, but it becomes more complicated when a dropper, a hopper, and a redstone comparator are added. Just make sure you follow the video closely:
If you thought that was too easy, check out Biggs87x’s redstone torch door, which requires many more moving parts working together. Another variation on this idea is docm77’s hidden switch, which cleverly uses a series of armor stands to create a chain reaction that opens an iron door.
