This solution, which only applies to one sand block, explains how to truly make sand float. True floating sand is not a viable option if you require more than one sand block. For the selection that works best for you, see my other responses down below.
If you want to be able to break one block and have all the sand fall, this is the best option. View my other responses for additional choices, then pick the one that best fits your needs.
The best way to arrange several floating sand blocks next to each other is in this way.
It won’t even fall if you place or remove auxiliary blocks while updating the string. Sand must fall into the string from a greater height in order to pass through the string.

Introduction: How to Make Sand Float in Minecraft
How to make sand float in Minecraft using this simple guide Sand cannot float, as you will know if you have played Minecraft before. You will discover how to use flowers to make the sand float in this tutorial. Please take note that I’m playing Minecraft 1 and that this does not work with Minecraft PE. 9.
Step 1: Get Your Materials Ready
The first step is very simple. All you need to do is gather some roses and sand in your hand.
Step 2: Make a Hole
The size of the hole is irrelevant if you are in creative because you have infinite blocks. Make the hole as big as you can if you’re trying to survive.
Step 3: Fill the Hole With Roses
As many roses as you can should be used to cover the hole you have created. If you don’t put one on each block, it won’t work.
Step 4: Fill the Blocks Above With Sand
Simply fill your hole with sand
Step 5: Make Another Small Hole
Create a tiny hole nearby your hole so you can see your flowers.
Step 6: Climb Down the Hole
The next step is to crawl into your hole and destroy the flowers.
Step 7: WELL DONE!
