So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled and it worked brilliantly. I was able to print everything in color again all day long. Now I wake this morning and Im back to it being stuck in monochrome. Between this issue and the issue that in order for me to print wifi I have to litterally turn the printer off and back on once it goes into sleep mode so it will no longer be “off line” . Im pretty much ready to just chunck this one in the trash and get a new printer. If anyone has a solution that doesnt have to be done everytime you use it, you will be my hero for the day

(I could not find a function named “Programs and Features.” There is a function in settings named “Apps and Features,” but this area no longer has the HP Printer listed to uninstall. It has various extensions and apps, but not the device itself. I went ahead and uninstalled the printer from the “Device Manager” settings.)

I printed that page yesterday and it came out in color. However, no other pages will print in color from my laptop. I am running windows 10 pro. I have even opened pictures with the HP app and printed them with the setting sating to print in color, did not work.

Thank you, but, yes. We had tried it from 4 different laptops, 3 iPads, a desktop, and a couple of phones – all printed in b/w. We also changed out the colored ink cartridge for a new one, just in case – despite the reported ink level – it was out/low/clogged, etc.

As of about 30 minutes ago, the printer has stopped responding to us at all. I tried to unplug & replug it in, remove the power cord, reset it, etc. It was turning on, but it would not print anything for the whole afternoon. Now I cannot even get it to turn on. Im still not sure what was wrong with it, but it appears that the lack of color printing may have been a precursor to a more serious issue. I think that I will simply have to look for a new printer.

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on. (2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue. (3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer. (4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. (5) Wait at least 60 seconds. (6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet. NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet. (7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer. (8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

HP OfficeJet 3830, same symptoms as above, no error messages. Have gone through all of @Atharve_gps advice to Cheli, to no avail. The printer test page prints with colour, but no attempts with colour documents work from Windows. The Print Preferences dialogue doesnt even have a mention of colour. It printed in colour two days ago with no problem, but would not yesterday. The printer itself is fine and will print colour documents using the ePrint service, so I conclude it must be something to do with the drivers and presumably Windows 10 having mucked them up in some way. However (to restate), I have removed them entirely, going through the process three times so far (turn off, kill print spooler (one odd thing, since the second reinstall, the print spooler is not listed under services), check nothing in System32’spool’PRINTERS (has always been empty), Uninstall, remove drivers (and package), delete any trace of HP in programdata, switch printer on (connect using wifi, location makes USB tricky), get latest drivers from https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-3830-all-in-one-printer-series/7172321 install and check the rpinting… which is greyscale. And no colour settings on printer preferences. Still (!) Help?
