Undoubtedly, one of the most enjoyable activities in Minecraft is mining ores. Although gold is not the most beneficial material, it can be useful for armor pieces and ingots when exploring bastion ruins.
The overworld contains naturally occurring gold ore, which can be mined with an iron pickaxe or better. They also produce in the Nether, but when mined, players receive gold nuggets rather than pure gold.

In the Java Edition, all biomes and levels -64 to 32 of the gold ore attempt to generate 4 times per chunk in blobs of size 9. When compared to either end of the range, layer -16 is where it is most likely to be found. Gold ore attempts to generate in two batches in Bedrock Edition. From levels -64 to 32, the first batch generates 4 times per chunk in blobs of size 9. When compared to either end of the range, layer -16 is where it is most likely to be found. The second batch generates uniformly between -64 and -48 in blobs of size 9 that are generated in 1/2 chunks. Additionally, the badlands biome has an additional batch of gold ore that uniformly generates 50 times per chunk in blobs of size 9, from 32 to 256. Gold ore is also less likely to be exposed to air: 50% of ore blocks from the first and second batch will not generate Badlands’ extra batch will continue to produce even if exposed to air. Gold ore can replace stone, granite, diorite, andesite, and deepslate. Gold ore that replaces deepslate will become deepslate gold ore.

Even when wearing golden armor, piglins become hostile toward players who mine gold ore. Additionally, piglins sprint toward any gold ores lying on the ground, inspecting it for six to eight seconds, and then adding it to their inventory.
