Players of Minecraft have long enjoyed altering the textures and sounds of the game. The game files and the official name given to them by Mojang are Resource packs, but the files used to do this were previously known as Texture packs and are still occasionally referred to as such.
Texture packs can be placed in the folder texturepacks within the . minecraft folder. Each texture pack is either a . zip file within the texturepacks folder.
Any platform
- Download a resource pack, you should get a .zip file
- Open the folder to which you downloaded the file
- Copy the .zip file
- Open Minecraft
- In Minecraft, click on “Options”, then “Resource Packs”
- Choose “Open resource pack folder”
- Paste the file into the resource folder in Minecraft
- Return to Minecraft, the resource pack should now be listed (if not, press Esc to access the main menu and repeat step 5), select it, and click “Done” to make it active. The game will now reload itself.
Direct methods
- Download the resource pack you want
- Copy the file you downloaded
- Press ⊞ Win + R. A window titled “Run” should appear.
- In the textbox inside the %22Run%22 window, type %22%appdata%%22 and click %22Ok%22
- In the folder that just appeared, open the “.minecraft” folder
- In the “.minecraft” folder, open the “resourcepacks” folder
- Paste the resource pack in this folder
- Open Minecraft, choose “Options,” “Resource Packs,” then your preferred resource pack before clicking “Done.”
- You can skip 4,5, and 6 if you want to, you have to type this in the %22Run%22 window: %appdata%/ minecraft/resourcepacks.
- Download a resource pack of your choice
- Do NOT unzip the resource pack just move the . Place the zip file in the resource pack folder for Minecraft (which is typically located at /Library/Application Support/minecraft/resourcepacks).
- Open up Minecraft and login to your account
- At the main menu select “Options”, then “Resource Packs”
- Now select your new resource pack and then select done
To access ~/Library/ on a Mac running MacOS 10. 7 and higher, open the Finder, go to the Go Menu, then select Library while holding down the Option key.
- Download a resource pack, you should get a .zip file
- Open the folder to which you downloaded the file
- Copy the .zip file
- Type ~/. In the address bar of your file manager or in the console, type minecraft/resourcepacks/ (if it does not appear, click the three dots in the corner, check the “show hidden files” box, then repeat steps 4 and 5). ).
- Paste the file into the directory
- Open Minecraft
- The resource pack should now be listed under “Options,” “Resource Packs,” and you can activate it by selecting it and clicking “Done.”
