How Many Primogems Can Low-Spenders Earn in Genshin Impact?
There are two different categories of low-spenders in Genshin Impact: those who only buy the Blessing of the Welkin Moon ($5 every 30 days) and those who buy Welkin and the Battle Pass ($10 each patch).
You can significantly increase your Primogem income for $5 per month. F2P players typically receive 2/3 of the Primogems that players who purchase the Welkin receive. This is due to the fact that obtaining the Blessing of the Welkin Moon will reward you with 90 Primogems for the next 30 days whenever you log in.
You won’t receive the Primogems if you don’t log in on any given day.
It also nets you 300 Genesis Crystals. Although Genesis Crystals can be exchanged for Primogems at a 1:1 ratio, most frugal players choose not to do so because Genesis Crystals are required to buy character skins. We will therefore only include the daily 90 Primos in our calculations.
The Blessing of the Welkin Moon will give you an extra 3780 Primogems after 42 days in a patch in addition to what F2P players receive.
As a result, you now receive 11020 Primogems overall per patch (again, we purposefully keep our approximations a little lower). This amounts to approximately 69 Intertwined Fates when converted.
You’re sure to hit soft pity on the Limited Character Banner once per patch if you add the 5 Intertwined Fates from Stardust Exchange and a few coincidental Primogems.
Thus, by treating the game as a $5/month subscription service, you increase your chances of receiving a new Limited Banner 5* character once per patch.

How Many Primogems Can You Get As A F2P Player?
The regularity with which miHoYo updates Genshin Impact is something we should commend them for. Since the game’s release, they have consistently released a new patch every six weeks.

This amounts to roughly 45 Fates. You’re only guaranteed to receive a 5* character once every two patches (3 months) if this is your only source of Primogems. Of course, there’s always a chance that you’ll get lucky, but we don’t factor luck into our calculations.
Once again, we must note that these are approximations. There are a few sources of Primogems that we didn’t take into account, though not many: Web Events (which typically add 100 Primogems per event), Achievements (which add about 100 Primogems per small patch), and Exploration (patches that add in new regions or areas, like 2); 0, can easily offer thousands of Primogems just through exploration).
You also get to obtain some Fates every patch. You will receive 5 Acquainted Fates (800 Primogems) for completing the free Battle Pass. Additionally, each month you are permitted to spend 1600 Primogems to purchase up to 5 Acquainted Fates and 5 Intertwined Fates from the Stardust Exchange. Remember that 10 of these 15 Fates must be used on the Standard Banner and do not count toward the pity on the Limited Character Banner because they are Acquainted Fates.
Even if we understate it and say that every patch you only receive the 15 Fates, that’s still significant because Stardust Exchange resets monthly rather than with each patch. Your total wish count per patch increases from 45 to 60 with these new sources of fates, but only 50 fates can be used to unlock new Limited 5* Characters.
